My quest to understand art's nature strains me to answer burning questions.

Throughout my years of studying art experiences, innumerable inquiries have piled in my mind that I can't help but doubt if I'll ever arrive at just conclusions.

However, I remain steadfast in my commitment-I know one way or another, that my art questions can be answered.

In this post, I will share bit of my curiosity. I'm going to talk about my top five art questions.

These are the inquiries at the helm of my art education journey:

1. What is art?

At the core of it all lies this simple yet slippery question: what is art?

There are claims that art is a form of expression.

Others claim it's either a language, a mimicry of reality, or the perception of beauty.

Some also say that art is subjective and that there's no single definition for it.

Does this mean that the question is futile? I believe not. The fact that art exists means its mystery is out in the open.

It is this mystique that I aim to uncover, at least in my lifetime.

2. What is art experience?

Life is a tapestry of experiences. There are ordinary ones like labor or socializing.

Some momentarily uplift us from mundanity like intellectual triumphs or spiritual renewal.

Amidst all these, there is art. What is art experience in the larger context of life?

Art is hitched with everything we do or be. For example, in religion, art plays a key role. It is through artworks that scriptures are put into form.

Anthropology also proves that art experiences shaped past cultures through unique designs in jewelry or housewares.

These raise a question: if mankind is accompanied by art since its inception, why does a description of art experience still elude us?

Like the question of what art is, arriving at a clear knowledge of art experience is at the top of my curiosities.

3. What is art pointing to?

I refuse to believe that art is mere entertainment. My life experiences reveal that art can also carry intellectual and spiritual messages.

If so, what is art's end? What is it pointing towards?

I'm most interested in finding commonalities in all artworks.

I aim to seek a universal message that is present in all art forms, no matter what culture they arise from.

4. Who decides what's art?

The question of authority on art is as thorny as the previous inquiries.

Should trust be given to intellectuals and academics?

Is it artists that hold the strongest opinion?

Does public sentiments have merit?

To know the best judge of art, I am committed to studying every relevant point of view.

I see my literary efforts, studies, and curiosities as an investigation into this authority dilemma.

5. Why do humans create art?

Creating art is embedded in human nature. This fact is most pronounced in artists.

More than a livelihood ,however, there seems to be a higher purpose for the artist's toil.

Illuminating this elusive purpose, for me, is a great step in identifying art's role in our society.

Conclusion: My Art Education Journey

Even amidst uncertainties, I'm confident that answers to my art questions exists; I just need to be persistent in searching for them.

My art education will continue by immersing myself in more art experiences, engaging with artists and intellectuals, and exploring literature about art's nature.

By doing these, I know that I'll be able to gain an understanding of art that I deeply covet.
